should never be a fireable offense,” the president added.
The president wrote that ENDA, which the Senate is expected to take
up as soon as Monday and would expand protections against discrimination
in the workplace based on sexual orientation and gender identity,
“ought to be the law of the land.”Obama added that the legislation would also help in growing the nation’s economy and job sector and build upon past efforts on equality such as ending “don’t ask, don’t tell” and the Supreme Court striking down the Defense of Marriage Act.
